According to recent records and research, sixteen of the last seventeen have been the hottest years in history since such records were kept. These years have also produced the most extreme weather systems globally in recorded history. The strongest typhoons, cyclones, hurricanes and tornadoes have also occurred during these years.
Extreme droughts, floods and wildfires have accompanied these events. Deadly mudslides caused by the rains that came too late to prevent the wildfires which denuded the hills of vegetation, didn't in the Western United States. Ominously, polar ice is melting at an alarmingly faster pace than expected and wreaking havoc on global weather patterns.
Global Warming and Climate Change caused by Greenhouse Gas emissions in the production of energy are the most serious threats ever to life as we know it. Shifting weather patterns have caused some animals such as polar bears to become endangered and some to appear in places where they weren't native.
Warming Northern climates have allowed disease carrying mosquitoes to migrate to the U.S. and infect pregnant women with the Zika virus, causing birth defects. SARS, ebola and other previously unknown diseases are on the rise.
